Mirjana Najchevska

Mirjana Najchevska, PhD, Professor/Senior researcher at the Institute for Sociological, Political, and Juridical Researches at the "Saints Cyril and Methodius" University – Skopje (1980-present). Key qualifications: are within Human rights (discrimination, minority rights, and rights of marginalized groups, freedom of thought and freedom of expression, protection of the rights through the rule of law), interethnic relations, decentralization and local self-governance. Committed to promotion of Human Rights and development of democratic institutions and mechanisms for their practicing and protection. Her work with different NGO-s, especially as a president of Helsinki committee, enable practical use of the theoretical knowledge and possibility to be directly involved in the design of legislation  and work of state monitoring bodies. On international level she was/is involved in the work of several professional and expert bodies (Member of the Working Group of Experts on People of African descent, Member of the European network of legal experts on gender equality,   Member of the European network of legal experts on discrimination,...).
